A daily photo scavenger hunt for trips, birthdays and mild group rivalry

One sealed clue a day.

Set up a photo scavenger hunt for your friends, family or colleagues in a couple of minutes. At midnight your time a new envelope lands on everyone’s phone. Tear it open, go take the photo, and see what everyone else came up with.

Plays in any phone or laptop browser today, with no sign-up. Or get the app: iPhone (TestFlight) · Android (APK).

This is the app, running a sample hunt. Press “Try it yourself” and swipe the envelope to tear it open.

Three steps from idea to group chaos

A hunt runs for 3 to 30 days. You set it up once, send one link, and the app does the daily bit.

  1. Step01

    Set the scene

Pick a name, a place (or tap Use my location), your dates and team size (1 to 12; 1 is a solo hunt). Scav suggests themes to suit; keep them or pick your own. AI drafts a clue for every day, and you tweak or rewrite any of them before day one.

  2. Step02

    Send one link

Share your team’s link or hold up the QR code. No accounts, no passwords. Teammates join your team; anyone else can start a rival one from the same link. Lost in the group chat? Send it again from your team page.

  3. Step03

    Tear, snap, post

Each clue opens at midnight your time, with a nudge at 8:00. Swipe the envelope open, take a photo or pick one, add a caption and post. Everyone sees everyone’s.

Clue 02 of 10

Today’s clue arrives sealed

Every day’s challenge shows up in its own envelope, printed in that day’s colour with a rubber stamp in the corner and a tag saying whether it’s a solo, team or all-teams job.

There’s no button to read it. You drag your thumb across the strip and tear the paper open. Each envelope gets its own little animation to suit the clue, and opening it ends in a celebration. Past days stay open in the Days tab, so you can flick back through every clue and photo whenever you like.

Note: on a foldable, the clue and the day’s photos sit either side of the fold.

Clue 03 of 10

Bend the rules (publicly)

You’re free to cheat or chicken out, provided you don’t mind the whole hunt hearing about it straight away. There’s no quiet version of either.

Peek

From 9pm the night before, you can open tomorrow’s envelope early to plan your shot. Scav immediately grasses you up to every other team.

Every other team getsWe have a cheat 👀The Soggy Biscuits sneaked a look at clue 4 before it opened. Cheat. Never trust them again.

Veto

Not happening today? Veto the clue and your team gets a backup challenge. Everyone else gets a freshly written jab, and it’s stamped on the photos you post that day, next to what you did instead. If several teams veto, each stamp only lands on its own team’s photos.

Every other team getsMum’s Favourites vetoed clue 3Mum’s Favourites bottled the rooftop selfie for a backup. Cowards, and they now smell faintly suspicious.

Party games, built in

The photo is the main event, but every day brings a side quest. Both are written to fit your hunt, and both behave themselves when Kids can play is on.

Would you rather…

One with every clue. On an adults’ hunt they’re cheeky and sometimes rude. You answer when you post your photo, then see how every team split.

Two truths and a lie

Turns up on random days (never day one, about a third of the rest) with a topic to suit the hunt. Your team writes two true things, then picks a ready-made lie or writes its own. Guess everyone else’s lie in secret.

Next morning, everyone getsThe lies are out 🤥Lift Crew fooled every team with “Dave once won a hot dog contest”. The crown is theirs.

Note: guesses stay secret until the morning reveal, so nobody can copy the smart team.

Clue 05 of 10

Pinned up, picked over, kept

Each day’s photos go up on a pinboard, taped on like polaroids, with your team’s face stuck in the corner and a rubber stamp for anyone who vetoed or sent stunt doubles.

React with an emoji and vote for photo of the day; the winner gets a trophy. Short video clips post just like photos.

When the hunt ends you get an album: every day’s best shot, the most loved clips and some very official awards, e.g. most votes, most vetoes and most peeks.

Clue 06 of 10

Your team’s face in every corner

Whoever starts a team takes a quick team photo. It sits in the corner of every photo your team posts, so everyone knows whose handiwork they’re looking at.

Not in the same room yet? Skip it, and Scav draws a team portrait from your name and the hunt. Retake it with a real one whenever you’re together.

Missed a day? We’ll send your stunt doubles

Trains get cancelled and people forget. Rather than a sad gap in the album, the next morning Scav draws a ridiculous stand-in of your team attempting the clue anyway, with an excuse on your behalf.

Note: every stand-in is labelled as drawn by the app, and never passed off as a real photo.

Made for whatever gets you out the door

Mix any of fourteen themes when you set up a hunt, from Wholesome and Local culture to Fitness, Nature and Nightlife.

  • Holiday abroad

Turn a week in a new city into a proper group album, past the hotel pool and into the backstreets.

  • Hen / stag do

Pair Cheeky (adults) with Nightlife and give both halves of the party a shared scoreboard before the first pub.

  • Family reunion

Switch on Kids can play and Wholesome so cousins, aunts and grandparents can team up without anyone needing a login.

  • Birthday

Stretch a birthday over a long weekend or a month of Nostalgia and Foodie clues that people can join from wherever they live.

  • Office team

A weekday hunt with five-minute solo and team challenges. Clues open at midnight wherever each team is.

  • Your own town

Set the team size to one or two and see who finds the strangest landmark or the best pastry by Friday.

Clue 09 of 10

No accounts, no passwords

Nothing kills a group game faster than making your uncle reset a password in a car park. A hunt lives behind its invite link: open it on an iPhone, an Android phone, a tablet, a foldable or a laptop browser, and you’re in.

Note: anyone with the link can join, and every photo is visible to the whole hunt. Share it with the people you mean to play with.

  • One link per teamTeammates who open it land on your team. Anyone else can start their own team in the same hunt.
  • Works on every deviceOpen the same link on a second phone or a laptop and you pick up exactly where you were.
  • Several hunts at onceKeep a family hunt and a weekend away running side by side, and switch in two taps.

AI writes the first draft. You have the final say

Tell Scav where you’re going, how many days you’ve got and which themes suit the crowd. AI drafts one clue per day, each with its own colour, print and format.

It doesn’t know your high street is dug up or that your brother won’t go near boats, so read the list before the hunt starts. Edit any clue, reorder them, ask for a fresh one, or write your own.

Questions people usually ask first

Do my friends need to download the app?

No. Anyone can play in a web browser: they tap the invite link you send, scan your QR code or open the email invite, and they’re in the hunt. If you’d rather an app, there’s one for iPhone (via TestFlight) and Android (an APK you install yourself).

What if someone loses their phone or gets a new one?

There are no accounts, so your place on a team comes from your team’s link. Open that same link on the new phone, tablet or browser and you’re back on your team with every day and photo intact.

Can I play solo?

Yes. Pick a team size of 1 when you set up the hunt, and everyone plays as a team of one against everyone else.

Can I edit the clues the AI writes?

Every one. Edit the wording, change the order, dismiss a clue, ask for a fresh draft, or write your own. It’s worth a read-through so they fit your town and your crowd.

Who can see our photos?

Everyone in your hunt sees every photo posted to it; there’s no private or team-only posting. Anyone with a hunt link can join, so keep the link in the group chat rather than posting it publicly.

Is it OK for kids?

Switch on Kids can play when you set up the hunt. The clues, the Would you rather questions and the Two truths topics all stay family friendly.

Can I delete our data?

Yes, any time, from your team page. Delete my data removes your team and everything it made: photos, clips, reactions, votes and its team photo. The hunt carries on for everyone else.

What happens when the hunt ends?

Nothing disappears. Every day’s clue, photo, caption, veto stamp and stand-in stays in the Days tab, and the album rounds up the best shots, clips and awards.
